Gia Violenti

The Fructose Samurai are a cast defined by punk aesthetics. Gia Violenti's personal style is a mixture of punk & skater, from her hair, to her makeup, to her clothes.

There's a natural overlap between punk & skater, and at first glance, one might think that they're the same.  A closer examination proves otherwise. Punk style, at its most reductive, is a rebellion against the system. Skater style, while visually similar, doesn't make such a defiant stand.  The skater is an island, not at war with the establishment, but rather indifferent. Their sport, never fully legitimized, a strange mixture of athleticism, art, and street culture adventure.

When we think of skaters, images of high-schoolers attempting tricks in public parking lots come to mind.  There's a ragged youth to the skater that defies age, marking them forever as soldiers of the young.  The board gives them speed, and because of it, they can't be caught. Not even by the grips of time, itself.

Gia balances the impulsive boldness of youth with the mind of an engineer.  Her striking shaved head, a symbol of exotic fighter's freedom.  Her style, an eclectic pairing of Vans sneakers, baggy Urban Outfitters jeans, customized hoodies, and of course, a skateboard built for speed.  Her style is part utilitarian necessity, but also a statement, to live life fast, and always and forever accept the fight!
